The Iloilo City Government, through its Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions (LEDIP) Office, has officially launched the first training session for Batch 23 of the Uswag Negosyo Academy (UNA), welcoming 30 aspiring and existing entrepreneurs on April 14, 2026.
The opening session featured a lecture by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Senior Business Counselor II Eden Grace Perez, who discussed “Entrepreneurship 101: Growth Mindset.” Her talk centered on building entrepreneurial thinking, guiding participants on how to start new ventures, and strengthening existing businesses to become more sustainable and competitive.
Perez also introduced the Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) program, outlining its benefits, requirements, and role in helping small entrepreneurs formalize their operations and access government support.
Meanwhile, Business Permits and Licensing Division Chief Norman Tabud provided an orientation on business registration processes, walking participants through the necessary steps to secure permits and ensure compliance with local regulations.
The Uswag Negosyo Academy program consists of seven training sessions, after which participants will receive additional capital assistance. This support aims to help entrepreneurs either jumpstart their business ideas or expand ongoing operations, contributing to the city’s broader economic development.
