Iloilo City launched its first public rental housing project on February 4, 2026 at Sambag, Jaro. The Rental Housing will provide 362 affordable, safe, and dignified units with a proposed rental fee of P850 per month. The project is set to open in 2027 as part of the city’s housing solutions under the Rise-to-Action Framework.

Funded through DHSUD escrow funds, sourced from the mandatory deposits of real estate developers under the Balanced Housing Development Program, the Iloilo Residences ensures that socialized housing projects directly benefit local communities.

The launching was attended by Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, DHSUD USEC Atty. Eduardo Robles Jr., National Housing Authority Regional Manager Engr. Rizalino Cabahug, Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor Area Coordinator Ms. Sheila Saplagio, City Councilor Mandrie Malabor, Iloilo City Local Housing Office head Atty. Peter Millare and barangay officials of Sambag, Jaro.

Mayor Raisa underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing Iloilo City’s housing needs, saying, “It is worth emphasizing that these housing projects reflect the strong partnerships we have with our national government agencies and the private sector—working hand in hand to deliver real, meaningful benefits to our communities.”

She added, “Together with DHSUD and our other partner stakeholders, we will continue to build more homes, making it a top priority for our people.”  📷 Iloilo City PIO
